Livelihoods, micro-credit and economic empowerment for Dalit and rural families

In the remote villages of rural India, Dalit families have faced generations of economic exclusion and social discrimination. Through our micro-credit initiative, we've helped over 2,500 families start small businesses, from tailoring cooperatives to goat-rearing enterprises. Lakshmi, a mother of three from Maharashtra, received her first loan of ₹10,000 in 2022. Today, she runs a successful pickle-making business that employs four other women from her village. 'This wasn't just about money,' she shares. 'It was about dignity, about believing that I too could be an entrepreneur.' The program combines financial literacy training, peer support groups, and access to banking services, creating sustainable pathways out of poverty. To date, 94% of participants have successfully repaid their loans, and family incomes have increased by an average of 156%.
